Culture and History II is the continuing studies in Architectural History after dark ages. This module explain the development and event on modern architecture era.

Project 1 : Architecture Heritage Building Analysis

 In this project, we are assigned to form group of 5 which consist 2 of my best friend Stanley ,Zi Jian and 2 of my architecture studio senior Yasi and Rhye. The project is about exploration of modern architecture style. We got assigned with Mainsons Jaoul by Le' Corb.

Reflection :

For this part of project, i get to know two seniors with impressive analyzing and interpreting skills. As a group leader, it is quite challenging for me to lead seniors as they have more knowledge in architecture era than me. I also learned alot about Maison Jaouls and Le Corbusier, this gave me inspiration for my studio project which 'less is more'.

  For individual part of project 1, we need to analyse on the construction detail and produce an A4 journal report.

Reflection:

For this part of project, I studies alot about the construction detail. Maison Jaoul's engineering technology impressed me especially how Le' Corb implant load bearing wall with exposed material without finishing layer and create column-less treatment for Maison Jaouls.

Project 2 : Web Book

In the group of 5 again, we are assigned to create a web book and studies the influence of modern architecture style in Malaysia's building. We chosen Dewan Tunku Canselor as it is one of the few Brutalist Archtiecture style heritage building that still standing today.

Reflection:

 

The trip to Dewan Tunku Canselor is very enjoyable as we made runaway from busy scheduler and experienced like a ninja during the visit.We made 5 visits at total to capture both the facade and interior, through out those visits, we bumped into convocation event twice as we have chance to capture the interior by sneaking into the building as UM doesn't approve our visit. However, we managed to finished everything on time and produce a magazine about Dewan Tunku Canselor.
However, we follow magazine format for this project to let people know more about DTC. My group is the only one using the magazine format and I find new experienced producing this magazine, special thanks to photoshop expert Rhye Irwin.
