Community Service Initiative
This is an elective module that was planned by the Malaysia Ministry of Education into part of the program that everyone have to participate in the final year of degree program.
However, we did put effort although it is just an elective subject. We paid 3 times of visit to the Persatuan Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Klang Selangor (PPKKCKS) through out the semester and had activities with children.
First Visit
During the first visit, it is pretty much different from what I had ever imagine with the care center. They look so happy even without luxury stuff such as iphone, laptop or even internet. We had met staffs from PPKKCKS and had discussion with them about their condition and capability. We ended up having art related activities in the first visit.
A week later, we had a discussion among our group members in the campus deciding activities that we going to have with those children. We are so worried that if those children unable to produce a enjoyable piece of art or even if they are capable to do simplest task such as holding a pencil, etc. However, my group leader Bibi Ameera had advice us and decided to give a shot and treat them like how we wan to be treated.
Second Visit
On the second visit to the center, we brought a lot of material such as paper, leaves, color pencil and more. Those kids look very exciting to start drawing. At first, I feel that is it kinda hard to communicate with them because they speak different language and some don't even understand me and started to paint themselves.
I started to get frustrated when they didn't follow my instruction but my group member Megat tell me that they have different way of communicate, a more interesting way perhaps and he start to tell stories related to topic they love such as wrestling superstar WWE. Those kids started to get excited and actually listen to him! I was kinda surprise that Megat could actually communicate with them. Since then, I started to calm down and try to talk a little bit slower even uses body language to communicate with them which I find very interesting and fun by doing so.We collected their drawings and art pieces then headed back to Taylor's after a couple of hours.
Third Visit
Due to insufficient drawing and we actually wanted to have more activities with those kids, we decided to pay second visit to PKKCKS again but with different element of art this time. Those kid are very happy and excited when they see us visiting them again after few weeks since the first visit.
Art Exhibition
During the compilation progress for this project, I am involved in the digital team, tasked to come up with a facebook page seeking attention of public into this event. We also planned an art exhibition in the Taylor's University Lakeside Campus and bring childrens from PPKKCKS to have activities and visit their drawing to be exhibited beside of The Grand Hall. I established the facebook page, designed the logo and the event poster.

Reflection
Throughout this project, I realized that they actually only need a little concern from the public or financial support that everyone have only donate not more than a ringgit could actually changed their life. I am grateful to be participating in this module, giving some joy even with compact time table this semester. I might not able to change the world but I could make a little different in changing their world by seeing them smile it actually makes me more happy than I passing my exam.
