C and C
C and C stands for Culture and Civilization. This module briefing covered history, lifestyle, practice, food, architecture and etc. This is a core module for my second semester which hold 5 credit hours for my second semester. However, this module is capable to bring my mind travel through time and places study about different culture other than in my own country.
Project 1:
Back to Our Roots
This project was assigned to allow students having some times communicate with their parent while doing the project.
Introduction:
This interpretation of family history fits squarely with the view that all family history is contextual, i.e., it cannot be viewed in isolation or separated from its historical framework. At its root, genealogy satisfies basic human curiosity.
Objectives:
- To explore to the genealogy through research and analysis
- To study the change of human living from past to present
- To develop skills in gathering information and synthesizing relevant information into a concise presentation
Task:
- A2 Infographic
- Video
Individual Task:
- A5 booklet representing my family's culture and tradition
Reflection:
In this project, I had been through a lot of communication back home. This is very precious moment I spend my time with my family. My family is running family business and we are rarely to sit down together to have dinner unless it is reunion dinner during Chinese New Year eve. I love my family but I didn't even know where my ancestor came from. History are important to tell as it is memory and hardwork of our ancestor, we should spread the legacy our own family to the new generation. I didn't even know my family was super rich once before the World War II. My grandma is the best story teller in the world, I wish my family can reclaim the glory like few decade before, I also wish to spend more time with my family as much as possible.
Project 2: Project Runway
Introduction:
“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street; fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”
Coco Chanel
Objectives:
- To examine the similarities and differences between Eastern and Western civilizations.
Task:
- Presentation
- A4 Report
Reflection:
In this project, communication with members is really important. We had a lot of submission to due during presentation week, rehearsal and preparation is running out of time when we manage to finish our costume. Time is really important issue in this project. Otherwise, my group spend alot of money in this project and also hardwork. Unlikely to compare with other group that went to ask taylors to custom made their own custome, we made our custom with ourself. Custome making is a really fun project but tiring, I also love to study history while watching movie. Troy is a interesting movie with history, I love this project!
Project 3: Coffee Book Album
Introduction:
"What travel teaches us is that we are all essentially the same. There is not a 'them' and an 'us'; there is really only 'us.'" The stunning photographs capture the theme of places of visit. A good coffee table books serve a number of purposes: they're decorative, informative, and attractive.
Objectives:
- To introduce the Western and Eastern culture and civilization through an overview of archeological discoveries, ancient monuments, artworks, philosophy and achievement of great leaders from prehistoric to present.
- To show basic skills on enquiry, investigation, application and presentation of relevant information.
Task:
- A5 Coffee Book Album
Coffee Book Album Report from Kelvin Ng
Reflection:
Reflection:
This project might seems pretty easy but I pour a lot of effort to make this coffee book album. Time management is very important to finish this project, taking photo of places need to be well planned because Kuala Lumpur often have horrible traffic jam which I might stuck in the traffic for few hours. Sometime, picture that I took is not the right angle or even sometime not suitable for my topic, I took more than 500 pictures to complete the album. In addition, I went through a lot of research from Internet about shophouses, it is an eye opening experience for me.
